The chap who lives next door but one feeds the birds every day. He has a large tin which he winches up into a tree every morning. The bids from miles around come and sit on the roof of next doors house to wait. It looks like ascene out of Alfred Hitchcocks Birds film.

I have a bird bath which I keep filled with water, but there is no way to keep it unfrozen and as it is around the back of the house, i am not wading through the snow to get to it

Good thing I filled the larger plunger then Linda,

But I was worried you might not sleep with having coffee at night.

I don't usually partake after about 4.30pm in the afternoon unless I am at a function and then I usually try and have a drambuie coffee or a liqueur to go with my coffee otherwise I spend most of the night awake and my brain goes into overdrive.

Good evening/morning to everyone. 4 degrees tropical????? Forecast here is for 31 with rain. It usually doesn't get that high if we do get rain - however, it is dull at the moment, and quite nice. Anything could happen!

My doc's surgery opens to-day and I will be first on the phone for an appointment. She isn't actually there to-day, so it's when I can get in to see her. I will have peace of mind once she gives me her opinion.

Glad you are going to get it all sorted today Berona. Hope it goes well.

Diane - sori abt mentioning ice-cream - should have toasted it for you.
Or done a baked Alaska ?

I will feel happier once you have seen the doc Berona. I am standing in oon shift for your daughter

Good morning/evening all.

Fantastic time in Fremantle but it was rather warm.

Janet, we bought some fruit from the Freo Markets: Mangoes 3 for $5.00.

In the local supermarkets they are $3,80 each. Avocados were $1.00 each.

Also saw the "Oceanic Viking close up as it was berthed in Fremantle whilst we were there.

For the Brits, the "Oceanic Viking" is a civilian vessel on permanent charter to Australian Customs and Fishery Protection and has been involved in a few incidents in recent times relating to whaling and illegal immigrants.

It is also the only civilian vessel which is armed.

Needless to say Freo was overrun with Customs Officers all doing last minute shopping.

I'll would like a coffee please Perse milk no sugar same as Linda, I only drink a cup of tea as my first drink when I get up but for the rest of the day I drink coffee. My body must be used to it as it doesn't keep me awake at night in fact the only thing that keep's me awake is my noisey neighbour's, I am usually so tired when I go to bed I'm asleep within a couple of min's when it's quite.

Hi Berona glad to hear you are going to make that appointment just so you can be sure it is only a problem with cramp's and nothing else.

Tea yuk!!! I hate tea. My family of course were great tea drinkers, coffee was something no one ever had. I was given tea as a little girl, but once I could express a preference, I never drank any. It was only when I went away to uni that I discovered coffee and started having hot drinks again

Good morning Berona. So you are till to see the Doctor...naughty girl! I hope that you can get a very early appointment with your GP.

Good evening Diane and Linda.

Diane, I'm the opposite. A cup of coffee first thing then either black tea, milk or water for the rest of the day.

Linda, the poor birds must be having a very hard time of it with the weather being as it is.

We have been watching the news with vision from the UK....not for me thanks!

Hi everyone,
Linda, I don't like tea either. I tasted it when I was 4 years old. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now.
I admit that I'm a caffeine junkie!

Diane, late last year it picked up 78 Sri Lankans who effectively hijacked the vessel by refusing to leave it when it arrived in Indonesia unless they received preferential treatment in assesssing whether the could travel on to Australia.

After a standoff of some period of time their terms were accepted and within a month the first of them had been allowed into Melbourne.

There are some poor b*ggers on Christmas Island waitng for a couple of years to be processed!

Hello!

Persey - your day out sounds lovely. I love days like that.

Allan - you also sound like you've had a great time. Nothing like a break to recharge the batteries.

Let me tell you about my weekend. On Saturday our daughter rang early to ask if we could babysit for 3 hours as she had been asked to work. Work is money so we were happy to watch the children so off we went. When she got home she had bought lunch for us and then we decided to have a little working bee and do some gardening together. Great in theory but it was soooo hot and after awhile I had to go inside and sit down. OH said my face was very flushed but I felt ok. I kept the children inside and we watched telly. When OH and daughter came inside they were alarmed that I was still very flushed and by then headachy and nauseous. I had a cool shower but felt quite ill so I had a lie down and slept and then we went home. I felt so ill and light headed that evening but thought I would be ok in the morning. I wasn’t – so OH insisted on taking me to the doctor. I had a mild case of sunstroke/heat exhaustion. Never in my life has that happened. I spent most of the day resting and drinking loads of water – and feeling silly:-))

Hi Everyone,

It snowed on and off all day, but there was the slightest hint , only a hint, of a thaw this afternoon. It is however, freezing again tonight - and I've been cold all day. I take warfarin (rat poison) so my blood is thin.

I buy 20 kilo sacks of wild bird seed to feed the birds every day, we get a good variety of visitors, and today there was a redwing, I haven't seen one for years - they are winter visitors from Scandinavia I think. Recently a squirrel has turned up to eat the bird food.

Welcome back Allan, Sounds like you had a great time in Freemantle, the Oceanic Viking sounds an interesting ship. I can remember when Freemantle was overun with British Merchant Seamen when a liner was in port.

Good morning Sue.

A few years ago I had an attack of heat exhaustion: not a pleasant experience at all so you have my deepest sympathy.
