Berona, I have chatted to a couple of old School friends on there but of course after 46 years or more we now have nothing in common.

Also my old childhood sweetheart is on there but I haven't contacted her through that site. I did make contact via another site a few years ago and we have exchanged notes at Christmas. And, yes, my OH does know about it. OH knew this other lady as well, as by the time i met OH we had dropped the 'sweetheart' bit but remained good friends.

Other than this site I don't chat anywhere else

That's the way I feel, Allan. I was surprised to find about four classmates from my "class of '46", and I remember them well. Although I got on well with all of my class, those particular ones were not part of 'my group'. I changed schools late in my last year, as my Dad's job moved us, and I kept in touch with my closer friends for many years, so I saw no reason to bother now with taking up a friendship with the others, when I really finished knowing them in 1946. It is nice to see what happened to them and where they are now, but I doubt that we would have anything in common more than if we had never met before.

Hi CC,
Berona's been practising her New Fangled Tango for months now, we're going to tango all round the decks when we go on our cruise,

I loved that Lena Horn number - hysterical

CC - haven't looked at them yet, but just to let you know, that Sam was cared for after the fires, but it was found that she had a terminal illness (one which is common in Koalas) and she was put down only in recent months. We did take her to our hearts when we saw the photo of her drinking from the fireman's water bottle. We lost a massive amount of our native fauna in those fires.

Berona, I'm glad that you got there first :0((

I was just about to post the same sad information for CC

Berona Report 15 Feb 2010 22:44

Yes, CC - In fact, I looked in on a couple of to-day's threads and found some people, who appear to be the best of friends, all "palsy walsy" - and little more than a week ago, some of them were still going into the not-so-early hours of the morning (their time) screaming abuse at each other!

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 15 Feb 2010 22:47

That is sad news about Sam - I didn't know she had died,
the loss of the wildlife was another awful aspect of the fires.

Well, I set this hour as my time to go and 'clean up' my dining room table, so I will leave you.
Yesterday, I completely cleared my bathroom cupboard, including three drawers. First time in the three years I have been here. I was helped with my packing, ditching, donating, unpacking, and I didn't know what was in there. Sufficient to say, I will not need to buy toilet soap, moisturisers, hair sprays, deodorants this side of the next millenium - I should live that long!
I have grouped them all on my 5ft dining room table - and it's full!

More ditching and donating coming up - and soon - so that I can sit at the table to eat! See you all later.

CC it will have to be the New Fangled Tango as butter may leave greasy stains!

On the other hand once you have seen the way I dance it may well be the Last Tango.

OH describes it as "lurching about like a drunken idiot"

The cheek of it....I am not an idiot!!

Allan,
I'm watching a programme about the actress Sue Johnston on a journey into Northern Tibet, in search of the location known as Shangri-La, that inspired the film "Lost Horizon"
She is in an area where the women are in total charge, they make all the rules. Men are not allowed to own property or anything else, and are only used to provide children, though they are not allowed to live with their "wives"

Good evening all:-)

Hi there Allan, hows you:-))

Sue..Ive finished reading your lovely book:-) Ive enjoyed reading it, though it has me hungry for more:-) I never realized how "church-y" people were back then, but I suppose there really wasn't anything else. I had never heard the word Whitsuntide, until I saw a photo of my Aunty once and asked her what it was!!! Looking at some of the pictures, I'm wondering are any of these people my relations, its a nice thought:-))

Tec.. your wedding sounded wonderful, so glad you and your Duchess were able to attend even though you were both worn out by the occasion. The brides dress sounds beautiful, crystal beading how lovely. I love weddings, I always cry at them:-))
Sounds a bit odd, its happy tears:-))

CC... Yes, we do still need our men... even though some days I'd like banish mine to another planet, lol :-)))

I hope everyone is well, still no news on Diane and Alison:-(((
